Spiritual Upkeep
Spiritual housecleaning like natural housecleaning can not be done all at once and say, “There that’s all done. I never have to do that again.”
Every day of our lives we get up – get washed – get dressed – eat breakfast or have our cup of coffee and just like that we’ve messed up the house. The bed now needs made. The bathroom needs disinfected. The dishes need washed.
Our personal spiritual house is just the same. We need to keep in an attitude of humility, prayer, repentance and praise.
We need to pray on that spiritual armor that God has given to us, and plead that precious blood of Jesus for our continual cleansing from sin, to continue to be made Holy through reading the Word of God.
In keeping our personal spiritual house in order, we help to keep our physical house in spiritual order.
This is the key to all spiritual housecleaning.
When you are personally cleansed from sin and sin-filled habits; demons flee and then your natural house is spiritually clean as well!
By now you’ve figured out that I’m talking about two different houses here; the physical house that you live in with your family that consists of your kitchen, living room, bathroom & bedrooms; and our personal bodies which the Bible describes as the temple of God’s spirit, no small bungalow here. This is an outright temple; a palace!
1 Cor 6:19-20(KJV)
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
So what happens if you have followed the Gospel plan of salvation and you are still having demonic problems?
Go back over the steps in chapters 4 and 5. Now that you have the Holy Ghost (Christ in you) you will probably find there is still some additional spiritual house cleaning to be done. The Spirit of God in conjunction with the Word of God will lead and guide you into what you must do.
Intercessory prayer (praying in the Holy Ghost – speaking in tongues) will be a tremendous tool for scouring out all the corners of your spiritual house and defeating Satan completely in your home.
A Call to Be Holy
(Hebrews 12:14-17)
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
The difference between Satan being able to totally destroy you and those you love and being totally free and having power over him is in the fact that once you have obeyed the gospel plan of salvation; Satan, is on a leash and the Lord has a hold of it!
Satan is no longer able to destroy you because you are under the protection of Almighty God.
You have all power you will ever need over Satan and his demons!
Jesus Christ can, will and wants to make you totally free!
Gal 5:1(KJV)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
James 4 (NKJV)
Pride Promotes Strife1 Where do [a]wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and [b]war. [c]Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 [d]Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
Humility Cures Worldliness
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
James 3 (NKJV)
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and [h]self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
1 Pet 5:8-11(KJV)
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.
Amen and Amen
