The Power of Spiritual Armor
If you have followed the steps in this book-
You’ve now spiritually cleaned your physical house you’ve chucked, burned, donated or sold all the physical stuff that attracts demons.
You’ve filled your home with the spirit of God by using all the sources of power to clean out you personally so that demons have no hold on you. Let’s just list our sources of power again:
1. The Word of God -TRUTH
2. KNOWING who Jesus is and to whom you are praying.
3. REPENTANCE
4. The BLOOD of Jesus Christ applied to your life through water Baptism in Jesus Name
5. Water BAPTISM in the Name of Jesus Christ
6. The Gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Once all these things have been accomplished in your life you are then in the Kingdom of God and FREE!
The next thing is to protect what you now have.
When we move into a new home… we clean it, paint it paper it , bring in our own furniture, decorate each room to our own liking and then once we are settled we set up a security system.
When the Lord moves into your life and spiritual house… He will do the same thing. He cleans it out, decorates, and once He’s settled in, He sets up a security system to protect what is His.
Knowing that He is the one who is doing all this work takes a lot of pressure off. Just look at all the armor He gives to us to use against the devil…
Eph 6:11-18 (KJV)
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your
1. loins girt about with truth, and2. having on the breastplate of righteousness;
3. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
4. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
5. And take the helmet of salvation,
6. and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
7. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Protected… every part of you!
This topic of protection is so vast that I can’t possibly do the topic justice here in this chapter.
For now let’s just take a closer look at each piece of armor;
Truth – as a Weapon.
As stated the chapter on the Word of God, its God’s Word that is the truth. We also know from John that the Word became flesh…
John 1:14(KJV)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
So that Jesus could actually say that he was the truth.
John 14:6(KJV)
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
See the progression here
Word of God = Jesus Christ = Truth
Satan is a liar and the father of lies, the originator of all lies.
Therefore knowing the truth sets you completely free from all those satanic lies…
John 8:31-32(KJV)
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Let’s look at a typical lie of Satan; physical things are moving in your home and everyone begins talking about ghosts. Someone narrows down the ghost to being Great Aunt Hazel because they can smell her unique perfume and they have seen her “ghost”.
There are some severe problems with this experience; when Great Aunt Hazel died her spirit went back to God, from there she was judged by the Lord and either went to paradise or hell based on the things that she did in her life.
Eccl 12:7(KJV)
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Luke 16:22-23(KJV)
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
So if this “ghost” isn’t Great Aunt Hazel…who is it?
It’s clearly a lying spirit… pretending to be Aunt Hazel. It’s trying to make you believe in a hereafter that is not Biblical.
By knowing the truth about where our spirits go after death, it exposes the lie and we then realize we are being taken in by a demon…we then bind the demon in Jesus name and command the demon to leave your home in Jesus name and peace is once again restored.
The weapon of truth keeps us from heading down the road of demonic deception.
Righteousness – as a Weapon
Righteousness (or morality) is a powerful weapon against the temptation to sin.
Name any sin that you know of – and someone will say – “Oh, that is wrong we don’t do that.”
Righteousness gives you the power to recognize sin and to say no to it just because it is wrong.
Most of us have a deep sense of what is right and wrong, we are born with it, but as we grow older we tend to ignore that little voice within us that says “Don’t do that!”, and we ignore that voice to the place that sometimes it’s completely dead. We need to wake up that God – given voice and conscience..
What if you don’t know what sin is?
What if you don’t know right from wrong?
Then, go to the word of God and read.
The moral law of the Old Testament is still very much followed. Only the ceremonial law – the animal sacrifices were done away with.
Read the Proverbs to find out what is right and what is wrong concerning many topics.
But remember this righteousness spoken of here is something that God gives to you and is part of the salvation package that came by Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and is part of the Spiritual amour that protects you.
As you lean on the Word of God and as the Spirit of God teaches you… you will recognize more and more the righteousness of God as part of your inheritance through the Holy Ghost.
Rom 14:17(KJV)
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Salvation – as a Weapon
We have talked much about the benefits of being born again into the kingdom of God. This is your first weapon and notice that it protects your head and your mind.
2 Tim 1:7(KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Knowing who you are through your salvation experience will bring you great power over the Devil and his demons.
Rom 8:14-17(KJV)
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Satan loves to attack your mind and tell you what he thinks of you…, “you’re this…”, “you’re that…”, trying to make you feel less that a human being, he is literally scared to death that you will find out and know who you really are.
As children of God we have the spiritual authority to squash the Devil and his demonic force.
Jesus Said…
Luke 10:19-20(KJV)
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Rev 1:5-6(KJV)
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Shoes – as a Weapon
Shod with the Gospel of Peace, that is beautiful thought and there is tremendous power in the Gospel to set the sinner free.
The Gospel in a nut shell is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Paul wrote this under the anointing of the Holy Ghost…
Rom 1:16(KJV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The true Biblical Gospel is powerful, explosive, it changes individuals; which changes families; which changes communities; which changes countries; which can and did and can again… change the world.
Paul loved this gospel so much and it became such a part of him that he even began to call it his gospel…
2 Tim 2:8(KJV)
Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Paul even went so far as to curse anyone who dared change the Gospel message and even included himself in that curse, if even he, himself should backslide and return to them and preach something different…
Gal 1:8-9(KJV)
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
The Gospel was and is so important that obeying the Gospel will be the dividing factor on who goes to heaven and who are destroyed when Christ returns.
II Th 1:7-11(KJV)
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
So the next natural question is, “How do we obey the Gospel?”
Since the Gospel is the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. How do I obey that?
By fulfilling the Gospel in your own life and following the New Testament plan of salvation.
After Peter preached his message on the Gospel almost 2000 years ago on the day of Pentecost (a Jewish feast day) the men there also wondered what to do…let’s read it.
Acts 2:37-39(KJV)
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?Then Peter said unto them,
1. Repent, and be2. baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and
3. ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
We’ve talked so much about the gospel in this book but this really is your ONLY deliverance from Satan, demons, sin, death and eternal punishment (hell) – obedience to the Word of God – Obeying the Gospel!
Isa 52:7(KJV)
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
Faith – as a Weapon
If I don’t believe that the dirty dishes in my sink need washed they will never get washed.
Some where between the pages of the Bible and peoples thinking faith became something of an abstract idea; instead of something that produces real action.
If I really believe that the dishes need washed, I’ll get up off my easy chair; run the sink full of warm soapy water and go to work on those dishes.
Faith is a powerful motivator to get a job done, look at these men and women from the Bible who allowed faith to motivate them…
❖ By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain.
❖ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death;
❖ By faith Noah moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;
❖ By faith Abraham, went out, not knowing whither he went.
❖ Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age,
❖ By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac:
❖ By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
❖ By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
❖ By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
❖ By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents,
❖ By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
❖ By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
❖ By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
❖ By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
❖ By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
You can read the whole account of these folks of faith in Hebrews Chapter 11.
It is evident here that faith motivates people to action!
Faith says, “Get out of my way, I’ve got a promise from God and I’ll act on it! And nothing can stop me or deter me from accomplishing my God given mandate.”
Knowing you have a mandate from God to accomplish his goal in your life is a powerful weapon against doubt, fear and unbelief.
The shield of faith mentioned here in the scriptures has a very specific purpose in that it “quenches the fiery darts of the wicked”. Every Satanic dart of fear, unbelief, doubt can be deflected by this shield of faith.
Sword of the Spirit
The Word of God – as a Weapon
We covered this so much in chapter 7 that I won’t repeat all the instructions only to say this – this is a powerful offensive weapon!
The Church is not seen as cowering in defense of a stronger foe, but instead is a powerful army on the move, aggressively destroying the works of Satan and pulling people out of his clutches and hell.
Jude 1:21-25(KJV)
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen
Prayer – as a Weapon
Powerful, anointed intercessory prayer- it literally moves mountains, destroys the enemy’s strongholds, brings down corrupt governments, and changes the course of nations, Kings and history itself.
Biblical intercessory prayer refers to praying in the Spirit, speaking in tongues, and even going so far as to groan under the weight of deep intense prayer. It involves time – sometimes hours – sometimes off and on for days.
One man or woman of God on their knees makes all of hell shake and tremble!
2 Cor 10:3-5(KJV)
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Eph 6:12(KJV)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
James 5:16b(KJV)
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Remember how I spoke of going to the throne room of God as a tremendous benefit to the child of God.
You can tell God anything, pray about anything, obtain help at any time.
Heb 4:16(KJV)
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
That sounds wonderful, the God of all the universe has told his children that no matter what is happening we can spiritually walk into His throne room in heaven and get help.
What would you give to have 24 hour access to your government head? To first of all have them listen to your complaint or problem, to have them want to help you with any problem and then for them to actually have the power to help you solve that problem!
That sounds like a dream, but it is a reality for any child of God!
People get all hung up on the “how to” about prayer and forget to pray; prayer is just talking to;
❖ Someone who actually loves you and cares to hear your voice
❖ Someone who you do not have to wear the “mask” with, He already knows you deeply and loves you unconditionally
❖ Someone who knows exactly why you are praying
❖ Someone who loves to answer your prayers, who aches to bless you
❖ Someone who wants to share all your failures, successes, joys and sorrows
❖ Someone who loves to help you understand all about life, it problems and wants to help you find solutions to those problems.
Finding a natural friend like that who would listen to you would be priceless gift in itself, but to have the Lord of all heaven and earth, love to hear you talk to him is a gift beyond measure.
What if I’m praying and nothing is happening?
Then check your motivation –
1. Are you praying for your own selfish reasons? Praying to win the lotto?
2. Have you repented? – The first prayer the Lord will want to hear from you is that you are sorry.
3. Are you allowing God to be God – the Lord can say,
Yes – to a request,
No – to a request
Or Wait – for the prayer to be answered.
Trust is the key here!
The main thing is PRAY!
JUST DO IT!
Talk to Him
Cry with Him
Laugh With Him
Tell Him EVERYTHING!
Tell Him Everything good
Tell Him Everything bad
Tell Him Everything in between
I love this acronym for prayer just… PUSH
Pray
Until
Something
Happens
Rom 8:26(KJV)
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
1Thes 5:17(KJV)
Pray without ceasing.
The Lord has provided his children with a tremendous security system. He really wants to protect his children from Satan and his demons.
The Lord has been so faithful and has given us everything we need; not just to exist as his children but to powerfully overcome Satan and the demons that try to spiritually stalk and destroy each of us and our families.
Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
