The Jewish Five Jar Method
to Make Christ Lord In Your Life
& Grant Financial Freedom
Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].
1 Peter 4:10 Amp
Based on the Jewish Torah (the first five books of the Bible) on how to become financially successful, this method will lift you out of a place of poverty and into a place of peace and comfort for yourself and those you love; while at the same time giving you the joy of giving and supporting the work of God and honouring Christ as Lord.
The concept is simple – take five jars, label them, take 10 loonies and place them in the jars.
This method takes the two greatest commandments and makes them extemely practical.
Matthew 22:34 Now when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced (muzzled) the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 One of them, a lawyer [an expert in Mosaic Law], asked Jesus a question, to test Him: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 And Jesus replied to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ 40 The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.” AMP
Tithe – Making Christ Lord – Loving God – recognize that the Lord is the one who gives everything to us, that as a loving Father he cares for and keeps us save. We, then in turn, honour his love for and his Lordship us by being good stewards of the gifts he has given to us. Giving back to him 10% of of each dollar earned. This is a source of great trust, humility and peace.
Place the first loonie in the tithing jar.
Open once an month and take to the house of the Lord
Melchizedek and Abraham
Hebrews 7:1This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 and Abraham apportioned to him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness.” Then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Without father or mother or genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God, he remains a priest for all time.…
Giving and offerings – Loving your Neighbour – recognize that we are responsible for those we love in our family, in our neighbourhood, in our town and in our province, our countries and world. There are times when those we love fall on hard times – having the means to help someone is a valuable asset and a source of joy!
Place the next loonie in the giving jar.
Opened on Sundays – Bring to the house of the Lord or to those in need.
Ephesians 4:28 The thief [who has become a believer] must no longer steal, but instead he must work hard [making an honest living], producing that which is good with his own hands, so that he will have something to share with those in need. AMP
Savings – Loving your Church Family – Being independent is a way of loving those in your church family and extended community. Caring for yourself by being as independent as possible helps yourself, the family and those you love and those within your community. Hard times and rainy days will come to us all in life and it’s important to be prepared for them, with a healthy savings plan in place you won’t be forced to borrow from banks, friends or loved ones and won’t become a drain on community resources. This brings great contentment

Deuteronomy 28:8 The LORD will command the blessing upon you in your storehouses and in [c]all that you undertake, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God gives you. 9 The LORD will establish you as a people holy [and set apart] to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk [that is, live your life each and every day] in His ways. 10 So all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will be afraid of you. 11 The LORD will give you great prosperity, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your ground, in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. 12 The LORD will open for you His good treasure house, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. 13 The LORD will make you the head (leader) and not the tail (follower); and you will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen and pay attention to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am commanding you today, to observe them carefully. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the words which I am commanding you today, to the right or to the left, to follow and serve other gods. Investing – Loving your Community – When we have money to invest in those we love and in our community we all grow and prosper, seeing the trust an elder has in a young person to grow their business and lively hood produces great community spirit and help for the future. This will also give an income for you as you age and give you the ability to leave an inheritance to your children and grandchildren.

Philippians 4:10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord, that now at last you have renewed your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned about me before, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 Not that I speak from [any personal] need, for I have learned to be content [and self-sufficient through Christ, satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or uneasy] regardless of my circumstances. 12 I know how to get along and live humbly [in difficult times], and I also know how to enjoy abundance and live in prosperity. In any and every circumstance I have learned the secret [of facing life], whether well-fed or going hungry, whether having an abundance or being in need. 13 I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose–I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] 14 Nevertheless, it was right of you to share [with me] in my difficulties.
15 And you Philippians know that in the early days of preaching the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of [c]giving and receiving except you alone; 1 6for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. 17 Not that I seek the gift itself, but I do seek the profit which increases to your [heavenly] account [the blessing which is accumulating for you]. 18 But I have received everything in full and more; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent me. They are the fragrant aroma of an offering, an acceptable sacrifice which God welcomes and in which He delights. 19 And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be the glory [d]forever and ever. Amen
