Finding The Real Biblical Jesus – Where to Begin

Slide2

Where do I go to find the real Biblical Jesus?

Jesus Christ is one of the most well known figures throughout all of history; the story of his life, his illegal trial, and  of his death, burial, resurrection and his assentation to heaven is known around the world.

To begin to know him… we need to read the biographies of Christ, written by men who knew him personally or those closest to the lives and people involved… we begin with the Bible.

The Bible contains 66 books, authored by Almighty God as dictated to various men through out history.

Of these 66 books, 5 speak directly about the life of Jesus Christ they are:

    • Matthew

    • Mark

    • Luke

    • John

    • Acts

His story from the book of Luke is portrayed here…

How do I become Biblically saved according to the Bible?

At this point, many being moved by the care and love of God, will repent (turn away from things that hurt the Lord, to doing things that please him) and at that point they want to be saved as taught in the book of Acts.

Obeying the Gospel creates a new person, a new creature in Christ.

Biblical Salvation

Salvation is an extremely simple process…

1) Chose to believe in who the Lord Jesus Christ is  and what he did to reconcile the world.

Believe …

  • that he is who he said he is, Is 9:6 that he is none other than Almighty God manifested in the flesh, Col.2:9
  • that he lived, died and rose again on the third day – that’s called the Gospel, and he did that to take away your sins. I Cor. 15 1:3
  • that he deeply loves you personally and desires a strong powerful, intimate relationship with you, Matt. 11:28

Knowing the love that brought him from heaven to earth to deliver you from the fear of death, hell and the grave and  to give you and abundant life will no doubt touch you deeply if you meditate on that type of unconditional love, and will bring you to what usually happens… we begin to feel sorrow for the things that have offended and hurt the Lord, this is called Repentance.

2) Repent and turn to God

Repentance is a type of dying out to your own will and your own selfish desires and ambitions, turning from sin and turning to the Lord, to do his will. Matt 3:2, Mk 1:15

Check out what the Lord considers righteous and what is sin?

The 613 Commandments

When we realize how our sin has affected our relationship with the Lord and even those we love, and repent… the next step is to …

3) Be water baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to have the sins washed away.

That means being fully dunked – immersed under the water in the beautiful name of the Lord Jesus Christ this will washed away all your sins.
This is a type of burying the old you that you put to death in repentance, and identifying with Christ, here is where you rake on his name and where the blood of Jesus is applied to your life and you become free from sin…this brings you in to the family of Christ. Acts 2:38, Acts 19:1-7, Rom 6:3,4, I Cor 15:4

After you have  repented the Lord will begin to work in your life and become very real to you… it is his desire to come into a full loving powerful relationship with you through his Spirit and he will want to baptize you with his Spirit.

4) Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost

This is a very powerful but normal salvation experience for believers, we invite Jesus Christ to take up residence within our spirit.

The Lord himself will baptize you with this precious gift and you will know you have received it when you speak in a language you have never learned, at that point you have full assurance of being saved according to the Biblical

Apostolic method and have received the Pentecostal experience.

John 3:5, Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:4, Colossians 2:12

We refer to someone who has obeyed the Gospel as an Apostolic Pentecostal or a Bible Believing Christian.

What is a Bible believing Christian?

A Bible Believing Christian is totally different from a “denominational” Christian such as: Catholic, Anglican, United, Lutheran, Baptist, Alliance, Trinitarian Pentecostal, Church of Christ, or other churches that most people are familiar with in their neightbourhood.

No one is asking that you join a denominational church group.

When we speak of a Bible Believing Christian we are speaking of someone who believes the Bible completely and basis all his beliefs on the Word of God; as opposed to denominational Christians who believe in creeds or in an organization or in the traditions of men that are held within these groups.

For a Bible Believing Christian the Bible is the source of all doctrine (teaching) and practices. The caution here is that you must properly know how to apply the 66 books to your life; otherwise you can actually do spiritual damage to yourself.

See Peter’s admonition to be cautious…

2 Pet 3:16 (KJV)

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

To complete your understanding of salvation, or to be saved according to the Bible, you will need a Pastor or Evangelist to water baptize you in the Name of Jesus Christ.
