Angles We have heard on high
Joy to the World
So, why is it so joyful that a Baby boy was born?…Well, to find the answer to that we have to go back in time, way back in time to the very beginning —- a time before Christ— a time when man had been created in the garden, the Lord looked around his creation, the universe, the stars, the moons the planets, the host of them an innumerable company of angles, it was glorious, A beautiful world, seas, fish, birds, land with beautiful trees flowers and food in abundance, and animals of all kinds, then he created a woman for the man to have company-it was beautiful and the Lord called it good.
Gen 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
Man, woman and the Lord spent many happy days in that garden, it was beautiful and every day the spirit of the Lord came and walked with them.
BUT.. then an angel, a beautiful angel, got jealous and wanted to be like the Lord, he wanted to be God and when he wanted that, something happened, something bad happened – sin was born in his heart.
Ez 28 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
His name was Lucifer, but we know him as Satan, he created all kinds of problems, he lead a rebellion in heaven and took 1/3 of the angels with him. He had just one goal to punish the Lord, he wanted to hurt man, Adam and the woman, Eve, because of he hurt them he could get back at the Lord.
So he came in the form of a snake, that snake had legs and was beautiful, and he spoke through it and deceived Eve so that eat the fruits form a tree she wasn’t suppose to eat, and when she did she gave it to her husband and he at it as well and then sin was born in them, that wicked angle called the devil caused deceived poor Even and lead Adam to sin,
It was horrible, they fell and sin and death were now theirs.
They had to leave the beautiful garden because the tree of life was in there, the Lord didn’t want them to be sinners forever, how horrible that would be, so they had to leave, death was now in their lives, pain, suffering, sorrow, evil. all because of of the sin of one angel, Satan
BUT… the Lord had a plan, none of this surprised the Lord, he knew what Satan would do, but he wanted to show us show much he deeply loved us, he had a plan, a plan to rescue mankind from sin, from death, from hell, he had a plan!
The Lord gave them a promise and he gave promises to the prophets and they wrote it down… he gave them a sign that a savior would come,
Is 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Is. 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Sometime in the future, a beautiful baby boy was going to be born, he would be born of a virgin, he would be born in Bethlehem, because he was to become the Lamb of God and that’s where all the temple lambs were born.
Mic.5:2
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
And the people wanted him to come so much!!!
The finally the time came…
That precious baby was the Lord himself robed in flesh, he came for one purpose, to set us all free, free from sin, addictions, the guilt, the shame that comes with sin, he came to die in our place. to shed his own blood and set us free from death, from hell and the grave, to deliver us once and for all out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God, He showed us what that kingdom is like, there is no pain, no sickness, no death, he showed the glory of the kingdom through his miracles, his signs and his wonders. He gave the keys to the kingdom to his disciple Peter before his death, burial and resurrections. So that on the day of Pentecost Peter preached the message of salvation how we could escape from the kingdom of Satan and come into the kingdom of God.
Peter preached God’s love he preached, the Lord’s death, burial and resurrections, he told them Jesus had set us free we just had to take advantage of it.
And the people were grieved, they had killed and crucified the Lord of Glory…the one they had been waiting for, the one who would set them free from Satan and sin and death and hell!
Act2:27
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
But Peter had the keys.., and he told them the way into the kingdom of God… Satan would have no more hold on them, death would have no more hold on them, sin would have no more hold on them and hell could burn on without them.. he said…
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the [k]remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
And the people were set free…all because that beautiful baby boy was born in a manger..,
So now, what do we do, like Peter said we have to repent of our sins, be washed cleaned in the waters of baptism in Jesus Name and then allow the Lord to fill us with his spirit, and then spread the good news, tell everybody we meet, go tell it on the mountains!
